Question: Can a clogged catalytic converter hurt the rest of your engine and/or transmission?
My check engine light is on and I've had three mechanics confirm that the codes said it's a catalytic converter problem. The third mechanic said that my truck actually has for catalytic converters on it and that the codes are saying that 2 of them are bad. According to him, they are extremely expensive to replace, especially in California because of the emissions laws. I'm already seeing some slight delay in downshifting while coasting but it doesn't happen often. Other than that I've felt that it runs a little sluggish. What happens if I don't do anything?
